Convention Rules
This is a game convention! Games have rules, so our convention does, too... If you have questions
about any of the following topics, please simply click on the appropriate link.
Attendee Conduct
Everyone knows that historical miniatures gamers are among the most responsible and polite
people in the world...
But we think it prudent to remind convention attendees that they are expected to abide by
the rules of the convention, as well as any directions given by the Convention Staff and/or
the convention site personnel, and of course, by federal, state, and local laws.
Convention Badges
You need an attendee badge! Your badge serves as your ticket of admission to FALL IN!™, and
it is a non-transferable and revocable license. HMGS East reserves the right to terminate
this license at any time, refund an attendee's admission, and require that a person leave
the premises.
Convention Staff (who wear red badges) also may deny you entry to the convention area or
request that you leave if you are without your badge - so please wear it visibly ABOVE
the waist during the convention.
If you lose your badge, you can be charged $5.00 for a replacement.
Event Hosting
HMGS East and the Convention Committee reserves the right to refuse any event to be run at their
conventions or terminate ones in progress, should, in the judgment of HMGS East or the Convention
Committee, said Event Host is not following policies as outlined hereafter. The Convention
Committee will investigate all complaints, and the specific situation will be discussed with
the event host(s), prior to any action taken for the event in question, or future events, run
by the same event host(s).
Event Hosts are encouraged to allow minors in their events. However, hosts can require adult
supervision (i.e., parent or guardian) of minors under the age of 15 if desired, but this must
be stated your event description, so it will be printed in all convention material (PEL and
Program). Simply state, "Under age 15, only with playing adult" at end of description, if so
desired.
Event Hosts, unless previously approved by HMGS-East or Convention Committee, may not state "No Kids
Allowed."
Lost or Damaged Materials
HMGS-East and the Eisenhower Hotels, Conference Center, & Resort assume no responsibility for lost
or damaged items or possessions, including, but not limited to FALL IN!™ badges or gaming items.
The Registration Desk will maintain a lost and found department. If you find or lose any items,
please notify registration personnel immediately. Property found on the convention site at the
end of the weekend will be returned to the owner if possible, with non-returnable items
becoming the property of HMGS-East.
HMGS East strongly encourages you to leave nothing unattended.
Smoking and Alcohol
This is a Smoke Free convention. There will be no smoking allowed in any convention area.
Smoking is only allowed in hotel lounge and bar, designated registered guest smoking rooms,
or areas specifically marked to allow smoking. Hotel and convention staff will strictly
enforce this, and offenders may have their badges revoked and be asked to leave.
Alcohol consumption is reserved for specific areas, designated by the Hotel. We don't
condone drinking in the gaming areas. We request that you be discrete and adhere to the
stated policy. Drunk and unruly behavior will not be tolerated. Offenders may have their
badges revoked and escorted from the convention.
Convention Regalia and Weapons
We reserve the right to bar anyone from the convention if we determine that clothing or symbols, hereby known
as regalia, worn are inappropriate for the convention. Regalia that depict racial, ethnic, religious, sexist,
or otherwise distasteful messages, shall be prohibited. Determination that a person is wearing such, shall be
at the discretion of the Convention Director - or selected Staff Members. At the discretion of the Convention
Director, an Event Host may be allowed to tastefully display "symbolic" uniform parts (i.e. German Wehrmacht
caps or British Airborne Berets) from the opposing forces in the game. This is not, however, an endorsement
of such practices.
Real or simulated weapons will not be permitted in the convention areas, nor will any item which in the Convention
Director's judgment can present a hazard to our guests. Active Duty Military, Law Enforcement, Security Police,
and Emergency Services are exempt from this policy, while carrying weapons in the performance of their official duties.
Trash
Receptacles have been provided for your use. Please use them.
Spectators
We welcome and encourage spectators at all events! But please remember event hosts and players are
trying to enjoy and finish their games, and this is more easily done if interruptions are kept to a minimum.
If you want to photograph an event - especially with a flash - please ask permission of the event host.
Bring A Tape Measure!
Since this is a miniatures gaming convention, all attendees are reminded to bring their own tape measure to
all games you intend on playing. Usually dice are provided by the game hosts, but tape measures are an
expensive commodity. Please, don't forget to bring your own.
Delivering Messages To Friends & Family
There is only one way to deliver messages to attendees - by posting notes on a note board set up near
the Convention Registration Desk. Please coordinate specific rendezvous times and places with friends
and family members beforehand, or place a note with your name, the recipients name, room no., message,
etc., on the note board.
A Note To Parents & Guardians
Attendance at an HMGS East convention is among the safest activities imaginable. But we remind
parents and guardians that the safety of their children is their responsibility.
You also are responsible for the supervision of all minors, as well as for their behavior at the
convention site. Therefore, please make certain that minors are supervised by an adult companion
at all times, especially during nighttime hours - and that they are playing in an event, back in
their hotel rooms, or in the company of an adult companion.
The Eisenhower Resort is responsible for security at FALL IN!™ (not HMGS East), and officials
from the convention site have the right to eject those determined to have caused problems. HMGS East
is not required to offer a refund if your children are removed from the premises.
So please, properly supervise minors. They are the future of the hobby. And we want them to have an
enjoyable - and safe - convention experience.
